Closing Statement

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

In Summary

My proposal is a direct approach to the locality, the needs of the client, and the values of its purpose as an educational facility. This Building:

- Takes the shape of landscape

- Sits within landscape

- Pays homage to history, similar form to the hilsea lines

- Provides explicit and ample private and public spaces

- Considers the physical, cognitive and developmental needs of the child

- Considers landscape as a metaphor for Architecture; where architecture has the ability to facilitate the growth of learning, in the same way the landscape facilitates the growth of nature

- Interiors are catered to the developmental needs of the child according to the EYFS.

- Clear relationship between themes, context and brief

- Effectively embodies the values of its purpose (symbiosis, interdependence, growth etc)

- Symbiosis between client (child) and brief

- between architecture and nature (ramp) - between private and public

- between Parent and Child

- Addresses geography of the locality directly

- Addresses needs of the child directly

- Addresses the concept of learning from landscape directly

This proposal has embodied it's purpose as a space where infants are able to attempt to learn, as well as a facility for the rest of the wider community. They work together in providing a private learning space, public community space and a near seamless monument within the landscape.

I believe that my proposal satisfies your brief as the client the most; not only in providing a prospective design for your kindergarten, but in also a respectful, considered, effective embodiment of the spirit of the locality and wider context that supports the learning and development of the future child.
